Pretty Green, Mark Ronson

Google Maps provided a great opportunity for a new discovery that is near my backyard. I have always wanted to go and see where a local river starts. This past weekend I looked up where, and found a trail, so off I went! It ended up being starting in a neighborhood with a single notice in front of a trail that read, "PARK CLOSES AT 10:00." I started on the trail through various wooded areas with the river alongside me. Eventually I ended up at a water treatment plant that just happened to be across the street from a very fancy restaurant!
If you ever want a simple and close nature hike, let me know and off we will go!

I'm So Excited, Young Divas

Last night I did not sleep too well. After a long delay, the winners for the Miley Cyrus/Stadium of Fire Tickets were going to be announced. Well the time has come for the winners: Hint... 2 Min 55 Seconds.

Note: One had to send in postcards that were going to be drawn from a pile. First place Winner receives 4 tickets to Miley, and then the remaining 5 winners will receive the upcoming Jason Wright book.

Note to the Second Power: Pick up Jason Wright's books here for a really good price! Great Christmas in July and summer read.

I guess I need to find plans for July the 4th!

Virginia is For Lovers, Jordin Sparks

Last night was a night to remember because Jordin Sparks came to Orem ( The City I would like to call,, "Or, Um... What else could we do that is in not in Utah County?"). I just don't get it! It's like stepping into a ravenous area filled with Bucky Covingtons.

So back to Jordin's story,

The evening started by putting our sneakers on, and driving to Sizzler. Good times occurred as our waitress filled our baskets with cheese toast.

Once at the venue, the Scare-A, we sat down next to some folks, and some were more lucky than others. My friend even made a friend who was eating Macaroni and Cheese filled crackers...
Which made my friend feel like this:

The Concert started with Create the group.... eh... "4-Real." You might recognize them from the "hit" reality show on KJZZ. Let's just say, putting a group with a 13 year old, 14 year old, 17 year old, and an 18 year old is not going to cut it in the real world....Maybe in an LDS market. (As a former member of a pop group, I think I can criticize). Also Interestingly some of the original group members left, and sadly they were the ones that could stay on key, and showed the most dedication... God Bless the two of them, wherever they are....

Next up was Jordin Sparks who was amazing, and talented at entertaining a crowd without any back-up dancers, lights, smoke, or mirrors. He powerhouse vocals covered "Fallin'" (Alicia Keys) and Heartbreaker (Pat Benatar). She also sang her hits which "tattoo"-ed my heart so outrageously, that I was left with "No Air."

Overall it was a fun night to remember with friends, chairs, and a couple catholics.

PS There were some SSS's (Summer Senior Sister) ahead of us and once the music started the tissues came out and stuffed into their ears. It made us laugh and think about how soon will we be doing that!

Sneakernight, Vanessa Hudgens

I know Baby V has a hard time singing, but I am lovin' Sneaker night! Check out the music video, cuz the beat makes you want to dance! She is coming September 5th, and I am tempted to see her at the State Fair.... Let the inner Tween come out.

Anything, Jojo

Okay so tonight multiple game shows premiered, some good and some bad. This got me to thinking that I have always loved Game Shows.

In my youth, when I was sick from school I loved watching the classic, Price is Right and Pictionary. Since then I have watched Whammy, Lingo, Pyramid. Match Game, Millionaire, and many many others. I think I could do the trivia or other quick answer shows, but I think I would not even be considered for the physical ones.

I mean can you imagine me on American Gladiators? I think I would piddle on myself because

I am definitely lacking some muscles!

Rainy Monday, Shiny Toy Guns

Today was one of those days when I wish it would just rain. Not because it was too hot, but just for memories sake.

The pitter-patter, smell of the wet pavement, the cold feel against my face, and the cleansing effect it has on the world around me.

I loved riding my bike through big puddles and lifting my legs so they didn't get soaked.

I love looking at my reflection in the pools below.

Rain reminds me of the dances at night that were performed in the gutter and around the fire.

In Elementary School, I loved it when it would rain because it meant I could take an umbrella to school and pretend to be Mary Poppins, by jumping off the steps!

The Wrong Girl, Missy Higgins

Okay so after watchin Camp Rock, I have decided that Demi Lovato, should just sing music, not act. She over-acts much like Raven-Symone does. The only star in the movie, is Alyson Stoner who is in Step Up, and Cheaper By the Dozen 2.

Overall I think the movie is forgettable, and can never top the quality of other DCOM's IE Brink, HSM, and the classic Gotta Kick It Up.

Also note to the mouse himself:

If you are going to have a cliche pop song, please get appropriate backup dancers, flashing lights, and costumes... Cuz a bon fire is not cutting it.

Happily Never After, Nicole Scherzinger

I have been thinking about a recent trend lately, and feel it is a huge problem.

The idea of "Heppy Ever After" as my southern neighbors would say is a false idea. I mean things can improve but to my knowledge things are not going to be instantly perfect and remain that way. Fights, sadness, and work are going to have to be involved, and through these we become better people. Most people in my generation, expect for things to be perfect. We expect to have the houses and other valuables our parent have. It just can't be so, unless you are a fictional character.

Which brings up May's Book of the Month!

Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations by Alex and Brett Harris

The Christian book focuses on how things in life are not easy. It's not easy to put yourself on the line and talk to strangers. It's not easy to say, "Hey I am Christian, here is why..." It's not easy to be gone on the weekends because you are helping people move or donating blood etc..

I have to say the book is very convincing, and empowering in a way for me to stop being complacent, and to get up and do what I really do not want to.

So Yesterday, Hilary Duff

So tonight I went to see a screening of "Errand of Angels." It was really good and made me reminisce about the memories that are "So Yesterday." I do have to say there was a mannequin head scene, and I have never laughed so hard. It had top model written all over it!

I was really thinking the movie would be corny trash, but I highly recommend the movie, when it is released August 22nd. The best way to describe it is a sisters perspective of "the best two years" while wearing pink and blue tights!

A PR Description:
Rachel Taylor comes to Austria to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She begins her journey with high ideals and low language skills, but through her challenges with the culture, the cuisine, and a companion from another place, she is able to find meaning behind the very beliefs she has set forth to share.

Suprise, Sugababes

Life has a lot of suprises.

For Example one can see the suprise that is East High,

Or meeting a long lost friend, making it just in time before the show starts, being charged for drinks only ( and not the food you ate), finding a cool pair of shoes, enjoying a nice weathered day, receiving a note letting you know someone was thinking about you.

Sometimes I wonder what suprises will come about some of which could be good and some bad. Do we bring these suprises about or are they secret gifts from above?

What is today's suprise you have been given?

Glow in the Dark Concert Review

Okay so this was the concert that I had been waiting for since it was first announced. I have so much to say about it, but I do not know if my blog could contain it all;

We arrived @ 6 so we could get a good place in the GA area, only to find out "Trucks were late on arriving to the theatre so doors would be opening @ 6:30 and the concert would be starting around 8 and ending at midnite." This was a lie as we stood in line waiting for the doors to open @ 7:30. Also they told us no cameras were allowed in the venue, so I took mine back to the car... something I somewhat regret.... Once they opened we stood in the E-Center Lobby for another half hour or so. Once in we got a little excited only for the that energy to run out, as we waited forever for Lupe to come on stage. Also while waiting I used the bathroom only to run into some HSM cast members, but I didn't bother them because A) I didnt want a crummy camera phone pic, B) I didn't want to bother them, because I thought they might just want to have a fun night!

My Favorite acts were in this Order:

1) Rihanna (Entertaining songs, robots, glow sticks, a wink, and catchy hooks "Ella Ella Eh!")
2) Kanye (Non-Stop Performing, emotional, beat thumping, talking to Robot Craziness!)
3) N.E.R.D. (Everybody Nose, Brain kickin, Dance-able, Energy, Crowd controlling!)
4)with Lupe close behind! (Gifted, Matt Santos, Superstar, Political :) Beginning FUN!)

Overall the night was interesting. The acts were all fun but that fun stops when someone throws a water bottle at my friends head, people tell us to stand in the back, drunk people threaten us, people do not want to be touched or moved, People are in the expensive GA when they shouldn't be......

We eventually left a little early around 1 because let's face it, those who work and can pay for good seats have to get up in the morning, and when we did my ears were still ringing.

5

  • The Number of Oceans In the World.
  • In hockey, the area between the goaltender's legs is known as the five-hole.
  • In a Will and Grace Episode, guest starring Janet Jackson, she declared that 5 is a mystical number and for that reason she must have precisely 5 backup dancers.
  • 5 Days till I glow in the dark!

Summer Memo

To: Sun, Clouds, Earth, Moon and other people involved with the weather.

From: Rainer

Date: June 4, 2008

RE: Summer

I feel the professional obligation to bring something to your attention. My staff and I, for over a few months or so, have always wanted the best interests for the rest of the planetary department, but it seems that you have not fully understood what I have tried to say in the past.

Let me blunt, if I may, IT IS SUMMER, which means HOT HOT WEATHER and TRIPS TO THE POOL, along with AN OFFICIAL SONG OF SUMMER, GETTING TAN and TRIPS TO SNOASIS. Because of your poor performance I am asking for your improvement. If little increase is seen I feel I may have to release you from summer.

I appreciate the hard work you have given all winter for the precipitation we need, but as a close friend and associate I want you to receive great praise and appreciation from all. If my motives were anything else, I would not be writing this memo.

6 Days

The countdown begins till the greatest concert ever.

  • Six is the name of a character on Blossom
  • On the show Sesame Street, six is Bert's favorite number.
  • In many cases (usually in rock music) an album's feature track is located on the 6th track of the recording medium.

Wanna Move, Diddy

This morning I heard about this and decided that I might as well give it a go. After 2 hours of listening to it, all I can say is listening to continuous soft hits makes me reminisce and fall asleep. The music is so slow that it makes me wonder how hygienists survive the workday. If it was me, I would create a radio "accident" and steal the knob to the radio after I changed it to a station that was more upbeat.

Explode, Nelly Furtado

I just wanted to point out the moral of the song featured above because some people do not understand it and/or forget it:

Be extra careful what you do or say, because you have no idea what people have gone through or are currently dealing with, because really you have no idea. AND if you think you do, then you are "stuck in the teenage waste."

As a good friend pointed out, some people forget the "think before you ask or say" clause. Just remember to be extra kind to everyone, even if what you see/hear does not match the person. Because really we are all here to succeed together, not independently.

"Treat people as if they were what they ought to be, and you help them to become what they are capable of being."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

End of Sermon.

If you do not have Nelly Furtado's Folklore CD, you should get it because it has remarkable lyrics and melodies that ease the burdens we call life.

See VS Hear Results

On a recent post, I asked for a vote to see who you thought Delilah's voice matched with visually, and sadly the majority vote got it wrong.

Picture A is Rebecca Crossman from FM100's morning show.

Picture B is the real Delilah we know and love!

Before I found the pictures I do have to agree with the majority because I always pictured Delilah looking like Rebecca.
