With You, Chris Brown

I am addicted to the word boo as mentioned in today's song. I wish I had someone to use the term with.
Today at work I there was a conversation on Latter-Day-Saint classic films (Cipher in the Snow, The Phone Call etc). This conversation let to a discovery of the following site

http://www.tomtrails.com/main.htm

I watched some of them and have not laughed so hard! Someone has converted a filmstrip to an online masterpiece!

As it was explained to me is Tom Trails was a filmstrip that presented Tom, a Native American, who was placed in the reservation program so he could get a better education. It's almost as good as today's teen dramas. Tom even has a crush on a girl named Lilly... who might become his Boo. Or will she?

Don't Tell Me, Avril Lavigne

Best Lavigne Story ever:

One of my favorite families in Orting Washington had a little girl who was three and loved Avril Lavigne. She could sing along to any of her songs, and was an early fan. One Sunday afternoon while driving home from church, they were discussing what each other talked about. When the little was girl was asked what she learned, she replied, "Avril Lavigne!" The parents asked what part of Avril she learned about, and she told them about how Avril had been in a garden. As it turns out, Avril Lavigne apparently is another gospel term for Adam and Eve.

Young At Heart, William Tell

Tonight I went and saw The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I loved every minute of it, and highly e-n-d-o-r-s-e it. It is not your typical musical, but is an improv/musical/hysteria/laugh/audience participation musical. It reminded me a lot of being a kid, and what goes on in your mind at that age. Also I experience what is not commonly seen, as a friend and I sat on the front row amongst the theater frumps (although they make shows like this come to Utah through donations). Actors have great facial expressions, and making direct eye contact with them is incredibly awkward.

Damaged, Danity Kane

Okay so I really like this song. But after a great Oscars Party, and a hilarious comment made by a friend, (Can't remember it exactly so its omitted) about winning, I got to thinking about what the losers might feel:
Sure it might seem that you are damaged and not on the top of the world, but to be nominated is an honor that most will not ever experience. If I was nominated for an award I would be on top of the world.
The only award I have won was in my Senior Year. I was voted best future talk show host, and entertainer. My award was a hot pink journal from the dollar store that had a lock and key. For some reason the award show tonight got me thinkin that maybe I lost that charm and wit that I once had. I know it's there, maybe just a bit damaged, but still fixable.

What Awards have you won?
Spelling Bee? County Fair? Blue Ribbon? Co-Worker of the Year? Best Smile?

Hallelujah, Paramore

I exclaim this every Friday as I punch my time card out. Today was especially true, and with plans tonight, I am a little excited.

On a different note, I cannot stand the word Hallelujah in song. I have heard one too many choir songs with it, and with every song comes a different translation. Hall-lay-lu-ya or 'All-ley-lu-yay tend to be popular

Also I really don't get how a venue can charge over- priced tickets for general admission for the Paramore/Jimmy Eat World concert. Makes me sad because the concert would have been killer, and filled with sweat driven beats.

Video of the week

This made me laugh thanks to my Daily Dose of Good Things Utah!

* I removed the video because it was auto-play. You can view it here:

Mute, Jessa Luna

For some reason I have a fascination with closed captions, especially if it's live television. I like to see the caption type super-fast, only to delete what is written because it was the wrong word. I also tend to use captions at night before I go to sleep. For me that is reading in bed, right before I fall asleep. Here is what I have noticed:

-QVC on captions is hilarious, they must have a program that does it for them, because most of the words and expressions are wrong.
-Music Videos are always good, I finally find out the lyrics to songs.
For example in Taylor Swift's Teardrops on My Guitar, I finally found out she is saying Drew, not Truth.

Matters of Blood and Connection, Dashboard Confessional

If there is one thing that makes me feel ill, it is the sight of blood, or bodily damage. It doesn't matter if it is in a movie, picture or sitting right next to me. I automatically get light-headed and feel like I need to vomit. For example, I once was admitted to the ER because I had a weird stabbing pain in my stomach. I had to have an IV put in, and told the doctor I would rip it out, because the thought that it was stuck in my arm, made me feel too sicker than I already was. What makes you feel ill?

The Greatest, Scene 23

Before there was Idol, there was a little show called Popstars. I loved it, as well as those that would come over to my house and we would watch the Auditions. The only downfall of the show was that no one voted except for the judges, so you pretty much were just watching the music happen. The show was fresh, funny, and was in the days of manufactured pop, so everyone was a future Timberlake, or Spears. I have both seasons on the archaic VHS, and one of these slow Saturdays I am going to transfer it to DVD.

Tonight the American Idol Competition begins, and frankly I am getting tired of it. It's the same format, with the same types of people singing. I just want to see someone fall, or be outrageous. Ruben and friends (everyone else that's ever been on the show), can only say Sorry 2004 so many times.

Believe, The Bravery

Hey there upper east siders, I have recently become a huge fan of The Bravery. I like the beats, the singers voice, the indie feel (even though I do not believe in the idea of indie music), and the opening of Gossip Girl. They recently came to town, and I am kicking myself that I did not go. Oh well, there is next time.

This song is interesting because today I did alot of thinking about believing, being brave, and why I have the relationships I do. Lately it seems that I have been more contemplative about life. Perhaps I am finally growing up and accepting "reality." Much like missing The Bravery, I think there are opportunities in our life that we need to grab now, otherwise in the future we will kick ourselves that we didn't reach out and take advantage of.

To this I say, Give me something to believe.

Sunday Morning, Maroon 5

I dislike Sunday mornings because I do not get to sleep in, not to mention I do not get alot of sleep because I am having to worry if the sunday school teachers remembered to teach. I remember when I had time to wake up in the morning, read the newspaper, eat breakfast, watch a locally produced show or informercial, and then still have time to get ready for church, and actually be on time.

What do you love or hate about Sunday Mornings?

Video of the Week

A co-worker showed me this. I love it because the kid is hilarious, and he is supporting the cause for democracy!

"Will win probably!"

Flash Lights, Kanye West

This is scary... While I was driving in miserable snow, I heard this song on the radio... I came home and saw the premiere for the video, and it's today's song to blog about;

I personally think Kanye's attitude is annoying, and the fact that people acknowledge that makes me more bothered. I imagine he is the two year-old throwing a temper tantrum, and people are just feeding it, by pointing to him and not disciplining him. Part of this analogy was sponsored by Super Nanny, the worst show on TV. In reality though, Kanye has an ear for hit single material. Can you not dance when you hear Goldigger, or Stronger? And of all the songs on the Michael Jackson Thriller re-release, his is one of the best.

Speaking of other train wrecks, I watched the season finale of Janice Dickenson's Modeling Agency. Really this show has no point, but I have to watch! It annoys me that the season just ended... like literally. Spoiler Alert.... She walks in and tells the models she fired Peter... and then it ends instantly with a clip of the Bad Girls Club.

My last "wreck" thought is this:

Carmen Rasmussen is an American Idol flip-flop! She has been quoted as hating the show, and now as a Deseret Morning News columnist, she loves every part of the show! She is the test pancake you start with, that always ends up burning, which means she needs to be tossed in the trash while we start with fresh hotcakes!

World, Hold On by Bob Sinclair feat Steve Edwards

Its official. I have been on vacation, mostly in my head.

The past week I have hoped that Global Warming is taking its toll on the Earth, because I am enjoying it's warmth! Today was incredible, and almost made me put off life's responsibilities so that I could bask in it.

On campus, I took as much time as I could to bask in the sun. This included talking the long way to class and walking slowly. I would have liked to eat outside, but I had to get to work.

Also today I had the thought that maybe I should become a lifeguard this summer. It's always been a dream of mine, and I think it could be super fun, while achieve the laguna complexion.

Also I had an odd experience happen at work, As I was talking on the phone with a customer, she wondered if it was appropriate to ask a question. Being an open person, and willing to answer anything asked, I said yes. She then asked what country I was from because I had a beautiful accent. I described my residency in Utah, and that it was a country in it's self. She laughed and described my accent as sounding Southern, with a hint of Australian or British tone to it. I almost died, because I really wish I had an accent... except not southern. I know that when I get frustrated or "Norah Jones Pissed," I will slip into a southern accent.... Odd I know.

Video of the Week

A friend sent me this. It's a really good acoustic medley, that I like!

Closer by Hoku

What am I closer to? I first thought of spring, which then brings summer.

Just a quick message to remember when you are down: You are always closer to something better!

Come Back and Stay by James Morrison

So today I was thinking about past events and memories with different people, so please come back, and stay... awhile.

1) I happen to live by a polygamous community aka the compound. For some reason my friends, sisters, and I would find it entertaining to drive into the compound, and just look around. Sometimes they would come up to us and tell us we couldn't be there. Other times, they would chase our Big Red Van with tennis rackets, baseball bats, and fists. One time we went we had the van loaded with 10 people... or more... and one of the "adults" came up and talked to my mom who was the driver. The man was annoyed that we were there, so my mom made an excuse that we were lost, and needed directions. Everyone was quiet, and some tried to hide from the man's gaze. The moment my rolled up the window, laughter broke out and screams rose from the van filled with kids.

2) Have you been to Gilgal Park? If not it is a must. I went there one Sunday (Its open very weird hours!) with the same friends from the story above. As you walk in there are all these bricks with weird messages and scriptures. There is always the infamous Joseph Smith Sphinx.... Anywho after the visit we departed. Once we reached the main road, my sister realized that we were out of gas. Thankfully the big red van, had 2 gas tanks, so she switched over to the other tank, only to realize it was almost out of gas as well. Madness immediately followed, as teenagers decided if we should fill up on gas on a Sunday or not. It was decided that it was an emergency and that we needed to fill up! For some reason this memory always comes up on appropriate Sunday activities.

My Love is Pink, Sugababes

I really like this song, it's pure europop. I thought that since the Sugababes shared with us their fact on love, I would share some facts on my life.

FACT:
I really like all music, some more than others.
I enjoyed the Hannah Montana Concert in 3-D
I have over 1386 digital songs on my Itunes (haven't uploaded my CDs).
My Friend can put my Itunes fact to shame.
I dislike ultra violent movies, but not all of them.
I really want a wii.
I cannot hold in laughter very well, Ward Choir and certain phrases in church are worst.
Growing up, I was obsessed with being a spy like Harriet the Spy.
I love California everything about California.
I love food.
I am excited to vote Tuesday February 5th, but do not get why it is called Super Tuesday.
I wish life was a telenovela.
If I were to work for a TV network it would be the CW or NBC.
I support the writers strike after having a conversation with the lead writer of the Carson Daly Show.

Ireland, Legally Blond the Musical

There is somewhere I long to be today! No not Ireland, (that's my sister's destination!) but the UK. I have longed to be there since in my early youth. I don't know where or why it started but it just did. I love the music artists, the culture, the accent, the history, and the flag. I try to visit a British store once a season to select various goodies from the country across the pond.

I have heard it said that some think they were born into the wrong time period, but for me it is the wrong country. NO, I STILL LOVE AND PROUD TO BE AMERICAN, but there is just something yearning to be a true englishman.

Also keep your ears out, because Leona Lewis (a Brit) is coming to America. Her single, Bleeding Love, is going to take over you radio, and I promise you will love it!

Also I love and enjoy the musical Legally Blonde. If you ever find yourself in New York, you must see it. It is hilarious and really relevant to our day, GEN X. It was recently on MTV and I recorded it for future generations to enjoy.

~Funny story to report. My professor sent an email out to remind us of next weeks events, and at the bottom of the email it said, "Have a Weekend." I chuckled to myself, and like that phrase better than "Have a good weekend!"
