Everywhere But Here, Nick Lachey

I love a good deal as much as the next person,  but I have serious issues when someone stockpiles 120 boxes of pasta.

You may have heard the buzz behind TLC's special (not a season show...yet),  Extreme Couponing.  It follows 4 people who shop at their local stores and get upwards of 90% discount on their groceries. This amounts to someone buying $5,000 worth of groceries for only $243.

I am a sucker for buzz and odd reality television, so I decided to watch the show. I have never been more annoyed and had anxiety from viewing a tv show.

It just does not make sense for people to do the following:
  • Take a day off work so one can clip coupons, and shop in a single store for 6 hours.
  • Pulling 7 grocery carts, and having store employees assist you by pushing them for you.
  • Taking 2 cars to pick up groceries which included some of the following:  1000 boxes of cereal, 168 toothbrushes, and over 200 bottles of water  OR Pepsi
  • Making your spouse feel stupid by moving their belongings so you can "store" your freebies
  • Going dumpster diving for coupons with a pregnant woman. (Dumpster diver and her husband looked and mentioned a lot of Mormon keywords... BAH!)
The show is absolutely disgusting, as it exemplifies America's need for products being overpackaged, and consumers living in excess.
I was so annoyed by the show, I wrote TLC an email. That is my rant for the months of October, November, and December.

Oh Santa, Mariah Carey

I realize it's past the special season, but for me I thought this video was a little special. It's from the NYTimes (my favorite news source). If I could afford getting the paper delivered to me I would.

I digress... Enjoy this sentimental and warm-hearted video:

The Day Before The Night Before Christmas, The Caroleers

It's a tradition in my friend's family to listen to this record (yes it's that old).   So I share this with you!

Thankfully someone has uploaded this to Youtube for the world to experience its novelty!

All I Want for Christmas is You, Mariah Carey

Congrats again to the winner of week one's giveaway!

One of my many favorite TV shows is Glee. While I find it hilarious, I secretly wish that I was a member of New Directions. They seem to have fun with everything they do...

I digress though, I can't get enough of the Glee Christmas episode. I have watched it THREE times this past week. It's perfect. It captures the spirit of the giving, unselfishness, finding hope in world that seems dismal, and of course fun music! (My friend brought up a good point that they didn't even touch on the true religious message of the season which is sad.)

One of my favorite things is a good Christmas movie or Christmas Special! I still watch the Cabbage Patch Christmas from the 80's,  ELF, The Family Stone, Fa-La-La Lifetime and other favorites!

Anywho, This weeks giveaway is one of my favorite Christmas movies. Many do not think of it as such, but it sits on my DVD shelf next to Charlie Brown, Rudolph and the other holiday classics.

It seems like every time "The Holiday," is on television I get sucked in and end up watching it. I love the humor, heart, and real-ness of this movie.  Not to forget, who wouldn't want to live in a BRITISH COTTAGE or HOLLYWOOD MANSION for a week.  I would die...

Since I don't have the funds or sponsors to giveaway a trip,  this weeks giveaway provides you a a chance of adding "The Holiday" to your DVD collection, as well as a unique treat to make your holiday season more snack-able!  To enter, provide a comment below answering the question:

Would you rather spend Christmas alone in a Hollywood Hills Mansion or a cozy British Cottage? WHY?

You can enter up to 3 times (3 separate comments), and each response must be UNIQUE. This aids in spreading out the likely-hood of being chosen! Winner will be chosen using Random.org. Anyone is entitled to enter. Giveaway ends Sunday, December 19th @ 5:00 MST

King of Anything, Sara Bareilles

I sure ain't Oprah, but in my little naive mind, I like to pretend I am.
Thus it's time for the 3RD ANNUAL GIVEAWAY:

In honor of the three years of blogging, three of my favorite things will rain on your parade this year.

This week's pick is: Music.

One of my favorite albums from this past year is Sara Bareilles album, Kaleidoscope Heart. It not only captures the fun dancey songs, but also those sentimental moments when your heart doesn't know how to say what its feeling. It's the perfect gift for indie/top 40 listeners!

I think Sara B, sums up her album pretty well, based on her description of the title.

"I picked out the name of the record months before I even finished writing the songs. I love the imagery of those words, and they’re really representative of how I envision my heart. It's a colorful but fragmented, ever-changing sum of all the bits and pieces that make it up. A kaleidoscope is the tool that helps make sense of the mess. Or at least makes it nice to look at."

Sooo... to win a NEW sealed copy of the album and be the King of Anything, leave a comment answering the following questions:

  1. What's the best emotion does Oprah emits to Universe?
  2. What was your theme song to 2010? (Name, Artist)

Winner will be chosen using Random.org.  Up to 1 entry per question, (aka answer both and you can get 2 entries). Contest open to anyone in the universe, but make sure I can contact you! CD will be shipped via USPS, or hand delivered with a smile! Should you leave an anonymous comment, send me a response knowing you entered!

Giveaway will close Sunday, December 12th, at 4:00 PM.
