That's Not My Name (Acoustic), Ting Tings

  • Perhaps the best part of the katy perry concert next to dancing to Hot N Cold, was singing to the ting tings on the way out, and having a random drunk lady next to me say, "Hey Ting Tings!"

  • So I work in one of those call centers, and quite often my name is incorrectly said...
"Thank you for calling _____ This is Chism how can I help you?"

"Is your name Bert? Brian? Brent? Berk? Pat? Brook? Brooks?"

  • In other news, for contact information where I feel my information is not important I use Brian Brinski
  • And random thought of the day: I want to be certified to be teach cycling at local gyms. My workouts would be unique because we would full on sing as we cycle. I came to this thought as I ran today and decided that people like me need to be able to work out and sing. Thanks for the pop revelation Rihanna... and God bless her and those affected by abuse.

Happy, Natasha Bedingfield

It is interesting how one little thing can tip our emotional scales. At work this happened yesterday, and today I can laugh about it, but at the time I got fairly upset.

So three lessons:

1) If someone is literally yelling at you on the phone, do not call them hostile. It just makes them mad, even if you emphasize the fact that you really are trying to help. Try other words that could not be so offensive. Thankfully he apologized for his behavior, and then I had to as well.

2) If you want someone in customer service to be extra nice and help you (even if the problem is your fault), be nice and cheery. I always laugh to think about the perks and bonuses my friend has gotten because he works and jokes with the Customer Service Rep. My friend is very good at this, so good that he can get additional discounts from Sprint, Disney Reps, and concert promoters!

3) I have long decided that the reason why Natasha Bedingfield and Brandy are successful is because their music is well written and clean. Both are artists that one should pick up... especially the new Brandy CD!

True, Brandy

I hate this part right here...

"TRUE"

Mainly because the word has lost any effect because of it's over use, and that it's a word that never really is backed up with why or how.

In other news, I had forgot to include a snippet from Punch and Cookies, by the 70's classic writer, Jack Weyland.

From Brad and Jenny:

"I know it doesn't make sense. I'm not completely over Craig I guess. Craig was like fireworks. You're more like a comfortable fire on a snowy evening. A relationship needs some excitement, some brass bands.I'm still hung up on the dream of Prince Charming who will come and take me away to his castle."

Pumpkin Soup, Kate Nash

Just in case you missed it, it is dangerously cold outside.

Speaking of cold hearted snakes, I wore my black American Idol shirt today because I think the addiction has gone to rehab... no no no.

I am to the point where if I miss an episode I think I would be okay. Because let's face it, lately it has been boring and filled with the moments we have seen over and over again:
  • The Contestant that has a family member dying.
  • " " that has never sung before in their life.
  • "" that has always wanted to sing their whole life.
  • "" that had a parent who had a dream they would be famous.
  • "" that we all thought wouldn't be able to sing after a devastating circumstance.
  • And the list goes on...
Idol You have lost me. I feel like I have been watching an hourglass, where each passing sand grain bores me even more. So it is time to flip it over and start over with something that deserves my attention.

Any recommendations, because I have 3 hours to fill in my life!

Human Stuff, Disney's Little Mermaid on Broadway

As I walked along the smoky sidewalk today on campus I noticed two items next to people's mouths. Cigarettes or an Apple.

Random items I know, because I have never passed so many people smoking or eating fruit. Perhaps both items were using them as filters for their lungs, but it was rather strange. It made me think of the benefits of both items, and how much I hate smoking. Seriously if you are a smoker I have difficulty about your mind. Granted I know addiction plays a large part, but I just don't how the wisdom can't break through that you are literally killing yourself.

In other news:

For the rest of January I will be posting a snippet from a book I got as a gift today at work. It's from the life changing book by Jack Weyland, Punch and Cookies.

"The Lady left even before Gilligan's Island was over. When she stood up to go, she sort of brushed herself off like the couch was infected. I bet when she was a kid she never watched Gilligan's Island or ate peanut butter."

Loose Ends, Imogen Heap

So I recently saw Bride Wars, and while I laughed, cried, and ate an entire bucket of popcorn, It left me with a bad taste in my mouth... much like Fondant.

Reason being is that it glamorized the idea of frenemies and attacks on best friends, something I hate.

Yes I know you are wondering why me, a twenty something-year-old guy cares about fake movie relationships.

Well let me just say that the movie reminded me of two "characters" from The Hills, Lauren and Heidi. We all know that there was the rumor that was spread which in turn caused them to hate each other, and force their friends to take sides. Then later on when one character apologized, the former friend forgave them, but said they couldn't be friends. Which caused both parties to spread hate towards others... And the cycle continues.

Somehow this rubs me the wrong way... Perhaps it is because being rude and saying outlandish things about each other is ridiculous, or maybe it is because when you forgive someone you move on and don't spread additional hate.

So what is the moral of the story? Be kind, and learn to compromise. We may not always get everything our way, and sometimes our view of our crystal ball is cracked. Also be willing to see that we are all humans with flawed filled mistakes, so we all need some help and forgiveness.

Escape, Enrique Iglesias

Capital "T" truths

I sit
and pack and play
wishing that unfolding the origami
should make
everyday not appear.
Work School and responsibility aimlessly follow me,
but my dreams are like crack to disappear.

Thinkin' bout the Hibachi, that tends to cook inside of me
esophagus included.
While the rest of my anatomically correct
insync-ness tries to remain cool.

Say what, Psych Out, Kodak flipped on it's side.
I think with the food in my mouth
which leaks out the corn dogged filled smile.

But through it all I start to smile at the hypocrisy fielding penguin,

Who chuckles
because like msinerdom-tsop,

WE JUST DON'T GET IT.

Beautiful Disaster, Kelly Clarkson

Growing up my grandpa and my older sister had an obsession on Saturday nights to watch the Lawrence Welk Show.

A friend showed this to me recently and I have watched it multiple times daily, because I laugh to myself every time! They got this one right!
