Say It, Britt Nicole

So tonight's song is not necessarily random, but I have multiple thoughts on my mind.

1) If you choose to slap a label on yourself, you might want to consider the positive or negative consequences of that label. This also applies to the labels that people decide to frame you on. Sometimes the labels help us, and sometimes it slams us into a corner with no where to go, because we have isolated the definition of who we are, what we are to become, and the identity that we are all children from a Divine source who created us to look like amazing snowflakes (some may believe that we are ought to be like everyone else, aka the chocolate Easter bunnies).

2) "Other things may change us, but we start and end with family." - Anthony Brandt

3) On the very night of the greatest suffering the world will ever know, Christ said: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. … Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (
John 14:27).

That may be one of the Savior’s commandments that is, even in the hearts of otherwise faithful Latter-day Saints, almost universally disobeyed; and yet I wonder whether our resistance to this invitation could be any more grievous to the Lord’s merciful heart. I can tell you this as a parent. As concerned as I would be if one of my children were seriously troubled or unhappy or disobedient, I would be infinitely more devastated if I felt that at such a time my child could not trust me to help or should feel his or her interest were unimportant to me or unsafe in my care. In that same spirit I am convinced that none of us can appreciate how deeply it wounds the loving heart of the Savior when he finds his people do not feel confident in his care or trust in his commandments.

All At Once, Jack Johnson

First let me just say I loved experiencing all of these events. It was great to not have to worry if they are singing or lip-syncing, or are they off count for their dancing! Great Entertainment!

Alicia Keys:
I have fallin' even more in love with her. Her voice is capable of singing soft full of emotion, or singing loud like you do when you are with your friends! When she first came out, she started dancing, and it was hilarious, and unforgettable, because she can move and not care what anyone thinks! As an encore, she sang "No One," and I have to say I felt like I was on cloud nine. Everyone sang, harmony included, and was dancing.

*Warning, when singing at concerts, I sometimes think I am singing on key, but as this video clearly illustrates, I am not

O.C. Tanner Concert:
I was not expecting much because I knew very little about this concert, except that an opera and Broadway star would be entertaining us. I was amazed as

Denyce Graves, and Brian Stokes Mitchell graced us will their presence and talent. They can sing, and gave a reason for standing ovations! At one point the symphony played the God Bless America, and it was a little emotion, especially at where we are as a nation. It was so good that I went to get some items signed by them, and decided to go again the following night.

So You Think You Can Dance:

I love this show, and it certainly is not summer without it! A friend went with me, and we met up with another friend and her co-workers. It was a lot of fun, to watch our favorite dances and to see some of their personality exposed.... (although they gave introductions, and it sounded like the High School talent show, but they are dancers not actors). Also thanks to my friend, she saw across the room that Katee's friend was there (she almost made it on the show). I posted my favorite dance which was the crowd favorite, which makes me bleed love.

"Go, my son, go and climb the ladder"

More about it later.

Save Me, Jordin Sparks

Recently I went to the local craft store, for a crafty project to work on. I wandered down the Craft stick (Popsicle stick) aisle and compared the cost of 75 ($4.99) sticks vs 1000 ($6.99). I always look for the best value, and now I am stuck with 900 crafts sticks to use.

I need to find something else to make with them. I searched online and found a bridge, but that is not too practical..... Maybe I can make the dress above for my friend that is getting married, or not.

Any Ideas?

Taking Chances, Celine Dion

Some thoughts from today:

"Today is the perfect day! A true gift from Seattle!"
I love the cold and wet weather we get occasionally. I think I was born to love it!

"Have you ever heard of a female dentist?"
I thought about this one, because I have to defend or support a position that is unknown or uncommon. I brought this up to my friends and sister, and after a period of us silently thinking, we remembered that my cousin happens to be one!

"Fall has arrived"
I noticed that the wooded area behind my house is starting to change colors, which means to put the shorts away, and get ready for fall! I tend to listen to more mellow music in fall IE Celine Dion, James Taylor, Country etc... I do not think it is because I am mellow or depressed, but it's just what I do.

"Why is that country music can sing about God and religion but other music can't?"
-- No response--

"Jessica Simpson's new country CD is trash. As a fan of her pop career, and lover of country music, I just don't get the change of music, melodies that sound the same, and lack of emotion on the bulk of the album."
-Ironically, as I wrote this, my ITunes shuffled to Nick Lachey's "Run to Me"... weird I know.

Save a Place For Me, Matthew West

To
whom it may concern,

Every Christmas I look forward to attending the Annual Christmas Concert with Mormon Tabernacle Choir and their invited guest. In years passed I have been entertained, and mesmerized by The Kings Singers, Sissel, Renee Flemming, Claire Bloom, Audra McDonald, Peter Graves, Frederica Von Stade, Bryn Terfel, and the unforgettable Angela Lansbury.

I understand that it is important who you invite because they need to appeal to a mass audience, have outstanding positive character, able to fit within your monetary budget, as well as being able to blend with the Choir. But I think it is time someone with youth and energy comes into town to perform.

Some suggestions for this talent, that I can provide, are:

Christina Aguilera: Amazing voice, who has shown that an artist need not be tied down to one Genre. With working and producing Pop, Jazz, Urban, retro, and electronic music, she has shown that she capable of working with the best in the business.

Alicia Keys: A soulful voice with piano talent an R&B artist would die for!

Neyo: Talented arranger and singer who has written for Mary J Blige, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Celine Dion, and Leona Lewis. He brings in a male voice, one that the concerts have not featured for some time now.

Beyonce Knowles: An artist that has risen to the top on every album she has ever been involved in. With such hits as "Dangerously in Love," "Irreplaceable," and member of the platinum selling girl group, Destiny's Child.

Faith Hill: A name known around the world, because of her musical success, and solid marriage to Tim McGraw. She brings in a country style that would fit in with the Choir's tone. She is even releasing a Christmas album this fall, so arrangements would be easy and straight-forward.

I realize that you most likely have someone lined up for the Christmas season of 2008, but maybe you will be able to look into booking the talent for 2009.

Sincerely,

B.

Can't Find the Words, Karina

The Results are in!!!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who voted, prayed, or wished for us! It means a lot.... I can't describe how I feel; ecstatic, because we came in #4 overall which is a great place to be in a national competition! A little sad, because my dream of a visit to the Tyra Show will not happpen for now.

A a group we each get a $500 Giftcard, and a new Flip Cam (PS Tyra gave those to everyone in her audience this week, so maybe it's a piece of Tyra)!

Man Down (Clean Edit), 50 Cent

Recently the president announced that the MTV staple, TRL (total request live), will be taken off the air in November. For some reason I am saddened that a television show from my youth will be disappearing. I think this might be the 2nd best moment of TRL history... (I can't find my favorite, but it still involves Mariah)!

PS this is back in the early 2000's when Mariah had her breakdown.

I guess TRL's pop bubble finally got popped.

Summertime Feeling, S Club 7

So this week I have started again watching Laguna Beach Season 1. It is somewhat odd, because compared to later seasons and The Hills, they act natural and don't really understand what the show is about. I am enjoying it... and yet again I have fallen in love with the beach lifestyle.

Sadly though, after watching I sat on my bed crying for a brief time because the Summer Season is now over. Part of this sadness comes from the idea that I did not accomplish everything I wanted to IE roadtrip to a unique destination, go swimming multiple times, visit Sno-Oasis multiple times... etc

The good think I guess is that there will be a summer season to look forward to.

One Shot, Danity Kane

Okay so tonight I went to view an updated website (which looks really good PS!), and I decided to take a look at their message board dedicated to women.

Before I say anything else, I realize that everyone has an opinion that they believe is right, and I do not have a problem with the idea of agreeing to disagree.

Anywho, there was a post on Palin, and I got a little frustrated because the overall gist of their rants, appeared to me that they are excited a woman is going to be put in power, and how offended that Oprah has denied Palin access to her TV show as a forum to gain viewers. Also there was a comment on how normal she came across, and non celebrity-like.

Then later tonight I saw this, and thought that Damon's comments contained absolute and poignant truths about our possible future (remember celebrities are just like us)!

P.S. I did think that Palin's speech at the RNC was captivating, and very good overall to present herself to the public.

When It Rains, Paramore

So someone recently commented that when they heard of haikus they thought of me. Reason I like them so much, is that they are so simple, thoughtful, creative, and different from directly telling you what is happening.

This is one about today:

Rollercoaster, Janet Jackson

So I really should be proofreading my paper, but I found this cool site...

It tracks your name and how popular it is in the year that you were born! Just type your name in the next to the cursor, and it will provide your results as well as name variations.

Too neat, especially since my name was at it's peak, and now is declining....

New Season, New Stones

I got bored of the design and decided to re-do it.

I really like the design of the MP3 Player, and in case you need one it is "The Pebble" by Samsung.... Buy it here, or here!

Can't Fight the Feeling, Celine Dion

I realize that for some reason's things in certain decades always seem to come back IE Clothes, music, TV shows, ideas, etc....

BUT is it just me or does it seem like the music world is rolling back to 1999?

Case in point, many of the artist's that were popular then, or fading out, are coming back with new material, or new directions. Especially at the MTV VMAs, it seemed like we were going back with Britney, Christina, and Pink. Only thing missing was a boyband... although we did see Linkin Park who released their first album in 2000.

All I can think is that I am enjoying the scenic ride back, and can't wait to see what happens.

P.S. A big congratulations to Ms. Britney Spears on her three awards... just a sign that we can all turn around and come back bigger than ever!

Gather Me Up, Carmen Rasmusen

So yesterday was an interesting and thought provoking time to Think, Pray, and Love.

1) It started off around 10:30 AM and I went down and decided to watch some show that I have left on my DVR. After watching for an hour or so, I decided it was time to get ready for church, which starts @ 1. So I hurry as fast as I can, seeing that the clock says it is 39 minutes after the hour. I quickly get ready and leave my house after printing out some items I need for the day at 6 minutes after the hour... and eventually I roll into the parking lot, with no one there. I glance down at the clock and sure enough it is 12:15, meaning I am super early, and I apparently can't read the 4 clocks I saw while getting ready!

2) In Sunday School we talked about Pride and it's toll it can take on us, as well as society. The quote was shared,

"Pride is a sin that can readily be seen in others but is rarely admitted in ourselves. Most of us consider pride to be a sin of those on the top, such as the rich and the learned, looking down at the rest of us. There is, however, a far more common ailment among us—and that is pride from the bottom looking up. It is manifest in so many ways, such as faultfinding, gossiping, backbiting, murmuring, living beyond our means, envying, coveting, withholding gratitude and praise that might lift another, and being unforgiving and jealous."

For some reason this really struck me, because it seems the top person or the bottom person always get critiqued/ridiculed, never the middle man....

To add to this, tonight's random song happened to be Carmen's, who I may have been quick and sharp to critique. To her, Sorry, and may you achieve the dreams in front of you.

Crush, David Archuleta

So my favorite, magazine,
Entertainment Weekly, has a section that they call "The Must List," and it features the top 10 things you should know about in music, television, movies, books, and the web. For the past couple months I have been entering what I think is 'hot' for the week. Well this week my hotness has paid off...

Take a look on the back page, in news stands now!

''CRUSH,'' David Archuleta

"Calling all Arch Angels! On his heartfelt single, the American Idol runner-up croons that his crush ain't going away. We suspect yours isn't, either. "

Moon Song, Norah Jones

I love the moon, and at times I can look out my skylight and it is aligned perfectly, so I can brush my teeth in the glimmer. The moon often reminds me that throughout life things change, but they always come back to what they once were... whole.

PS I normally am not this thoughtful, but it keeps coming to my mind.

Everything Reminds Me of You, Jewell

This past season has been the biggest music summer I have ever had! It was amazing, and gave quite the memories!

It all started with celebrating God:
  1. Superchick
  2. Britt Nicole
  3. KJ-52
Then the music started calm and changed into a pop-venture

  1. Vanessa Carlton
  2. Jordin Sparks (1st Time)
  3. Justin Nozuka
  4. Kanye West
  5. 4real
  6. Rihanna
  7. Lupe Fiasco
  8. N.E.R.D.
  9. Mathew Santos
  10. Jesse Mccartney
  11. Prima J
  12. Jordin Sparks (2nd Time)
  13. Kellie Pickler
  14. Colbie Caillat
  15. John Mayer
Of all the shows I saw, I have to say that Rihanna was definitely the favorite (minus the Lip-syncing), but John Mayer provided the most memories, that helped me celebrate life, and the friendships I have.
