Skies of L.A. Celine Dion

Lately I have been thinking about my decision to become what I consider a dream job. I wonder if I have what it takes to be in the top career, a public relations specialist in the music industry. To be in an industry when job futures are very bleak is frightening. I wonder if my kindness and compassion for others and work is going to be a huge flaw to the ruthless bourgeoise. I wonder if I would be happier teaching America's youth about reading comprehension and having themed Fridays... IE Charlie and the Chocolate candy bar day.

Are the skies of LA really cloudy? Can I see through?
Only the sands through the hourglass will reflect that.

Your Song, Elton John

I heard this song on random today and asked myself "What is this song about?" Turns out it blends different styles and songs that Elton and Bernie Taupin had written. All this thinking made me remember an Aha moment earlier this week:

I find music history really interesting. For example I recently learned that Sara Bareilles "Love Song," is about her record label forcing her to create a radio friendly hit. This is something I never thought of but when listening to the song it makes sense.

Also I know there are songs that we don't know who or what they are about IE Sheryl Crow's "My Favorite Mistake."

Any other good songs with a good background?

Tap Tap Tap

I found this today and was impressed by it!
http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm

It tells you the Top 40 song on the day you were born! Do you really like your birthday song?
Mine is Total Eclipse of the Heart

Also I found this fascinating as well:

http://www.songtapper.com/
You Tap our the lyrics (what it calls beats) and it finds the song for you. It requires some practice but it did select "Total Eclipse of the Heart" when I put it in!

Open Your Eyes, Victoria Beckham

Today was not a very good day.... but I still have a positive attitude. I feel like it has been like looking at a Magic Eye for 45 minutes without looking away. Here's a recap:

Someone hit my car in the institute parking lot, and drove off. The least they could do would be write fake information. So I have 2 dents and a 12 inch white scratch along the drivers side door. Not only that I hope their car passes in front of any church building and burns in a fiery inferno because it's filled with negative karma!

Monday I announced to my friends that I was Christian because I like Amy Grant and looking forward to a Christian pop concert at the Calvary Church. They looked annoyed.

In other news today, Andrew Lloyd Webber announced he is creating Phantom 2. Yes this is correct. It is supposed to be set in New York, and really I hated the first one (except the movie), so the second one is bound to be worse.

Today I had a great friend pick up some tickets so that all the "troop" could spend an evening together. They are always so kind, and willing to do anything. That is what a good friend is, and I appreciate all the little and big things they do. God Bless.

Also in late news that never broke.... Last Friday I got back into my car after playing Wiiat my good married friends apartment, and saw a note that made me laugh because I was not in covered parking at all!
"Listen Bonehead, covered parking is for tenants only. Next time pay attention. I hope you die!"

The Die, Lupe Fiasco

I read an article today and just about died of laughter. I happen to dislike "Temperature" by Sean Paul. If I had seizures it would be from listening to Nickelback!

For four years, Gayle, 25, who has epilepsy had unpredictable epileptic seizures despite taking a regimen of medications. Then in 2006, she figured out that music, and specifically Sean Paul's chart topper "Temperature," could set off the attacks.
"I don't know why Sean Paul was giving me seizures," she said Thursday at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, where she underwent the operation. "But as soon as the beat came on, it just triggered a seizure. I'd go somewhere and I'd be like, 'Don't play that song!'"

Tired of living in fear, she sought out Dr. Ashesh Mehta, a neurosurgeon and director of epilepsy surgery at the medical center.

Mehta said at first he was skeptical of Gayle's claims.
"It's extremely rare," Mehta said of "musicogenic" epilepsy. "There are only 50 to 100 cases ever reported of this disorder."
But he was convinced after Gayle gave herself a seizure by listening to Paul's song.

On Oct. 3, doctors removed a 3-inch portion of her right front temporal lobe, the same area that processes music.

The operation worked. Gayle said she has returned to singing in her church choir and attending York College, where she is studying to become a teacher. She said she waited a month after her surgery before she worked up the courage to listen to "Temperature."
"I think his music is awesome," she said. "Now I can see why everyone liked this song."

Book of the Month

I just finished How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns to Live Like Everyone Else and all I can say is wow life is great! I really liked the fact that the book involved snippets of his childhood and how he addressed his perception on African-Americans. I recommend this book to one who enjoys Starbucks and who enjoy a good true life story based on change.

Publisher Weekly Snippet.
A Yale education led to a job at prestigious J. Walter Thompson Advertising. But at 63, the younger Gill's sweet life has gone sour. Long fired from JWT, his own business is collapsing and an ill-advised affair has resulted in a new son and a divorce. At this low point, and in need of health insurance for a just diagnosed brain tumor, Gill fills out an application for Starbucks and is assigned to the store on 93rd and Broadway in New York City, staffed primarily by African-Americans. Working as a barista, Gill, who is white, gets an education in race relations and the life of a working class Joe.

Say Ok, Vanessa Hudgens

Today has been an interesting day.... Last night I found out I had a paper due today, and not next Monday, this created much stress, and possibly the worst paper I have ever written. Let's just hope I get a semi good grade... So I "Say OK" that I not see success in everything.

Also today the HSM cast have begun to come and settle the area in time for HSM 3. So keep your eyes out! Also in HSM related news the Broadway show tickets go on sale May 5th. Not to be missed but I will say some of the voices bother me....

Also it was excellent weather today which made me Say OK I officially like the weather.

And to all this I say Ok.

Chelsea, Stefy

Today was a fun and interesting day! I attended Good Things Utah (GTU) and had a blast. It is interesting to see how the show runs, and made me want to possibly intern with them... to watch drama unfold, and crazy audience members! While there is no one named Chelsea, there should be because she could created the drama....
Here are some pictures that I took from the show:

Every TV visit deserves a Homage to Tyra!

A Save Situation, The Format

One of my technology pet peeves is when you start a project on the computer, and when you get close to getting done, it gets erased, or the program has to shut down. This drives me insane... especially when I find a tid bit of knowledge online, and there is an "error" and it shuts down, and I can't remember how to find the link again!

Truthfully, Lisa Loeb

I have a love for singer-songwriters. They know what the song is about, and sing it well.

So within the past week the idea of truthfully saying something has been in the media lately. Eliot Spitzer had a troubled past which brought about his resignation. Also Tyra had a segment "Say This, or Say That." She helped people with problems do the right thing. For example a girl had a hard time saying the right thing. So Tyra taught her that if someone asks if the jeans make her friend look fat to say, "That's just not a good cut on you." Also you have a current game show measuring one's truth for entertainment. If they answer falsely we automatically know.... And with their answers they do not always get to explain the reasoning behind their answer.

Which brings up the question; Should telling the black and white truth be told so one can win half a million dollars, even if it hurts someone?

Now You Tell Me, Jordin Sparks

I cleaned my room today, and found this quote attached to one of essays I wrote from a professor:

I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make a life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or de-humanized.

L.O.V.E. Ashlee Simpson

A friend recently brought this song up today, and it kinda sums up my weekend. On Friday I went to a birthday party, and attended a Wii Smash Brothers party. There are numerous characters that one can play with, but I ended up with choosing a new favorite, "Ice Climbers."
They are super good because you actually have two different characters you control rather than just one. Also I got to talk to two of my favorite people who are getting married. They are so great and perfect couple... much like Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in "You've Got Mail."

My time on Saturday was filled to the brim with my cousin's wedding. It was good to be around family, and to see the beginnings of a new family. I have decided that when I get married there will be no "wedding line," and there will be dancing with loud music.... So loud that those who come and have a problem will leave before even walking in the door.

So really the weekend made me decide that two people together are strong, and something I would like to have.

Wait For You, Nelly Furtado

Okay so we all have our own flaws, and mine is that I happen to have a tendency to be late. In my mind, I have all the time in the world, and then I look at the clock and see that I am slapped by a restriction aka time. I sometimes wish we lived like the Fijians across the sea. From what I have been told, there are no clocks, but time is dictated by the sun. I think I would like that very much. So if I have 2 minutes late for meeting you for an occasion, then please forgive me, because all things get better in time!

Eyes On Me, Celine Dion

Today I realized that I got cheated out of good seats for the Celine Dion concert for later this year (this came about as I was registering to become a fan club member of Rihanna, to see her in concert with the incredible Kanye)!

I had joined Celine's fan club previously, and when her dates for her Taking Chances tour were announced I bought tickets. Fan club members were put in a random section away from the stage, but diagonally close..... I could have gotten better seats if I didn't care about my fan club, and the fact that I got a great discount and no service fees for tickets! Either way though, it will be incredible and grand!

Editors note... I got tickets today, and they will be general admission amazing for the Kanye concert. Thanks Presale!

Stop! Stay Away from My Sister, Beu Sisters

This past weekend I had an amazing adventure with my sister. It all started with a trip to Costco, which was followed by a rendevous to Provo, followed by getting "Chadder-ed" in American Fork, and a trip to Ikea to pick up a few things...

It had been a while since I had done anything with her in a while, and it was fun... except for the Wyoming-like folk in a party store, to which I wanted to scream the title of todays blog.

Amazing Time of Year

Today is the start of a great season... It's cookie time!

Looking Forward to Looking Back, Mandy Moore

-Posts on Sunday are not random but are selected-

Today was my friend's 26th birthday party, and like usual it had amazing food (Chex Mix + coconut = Yum)! This weekend was filled with random events, a lot of which were not planned; IE random trip to Provo, Spaghetti Factory Fun, working on homework, realization that I am going to be more social, the fact that I like my calling, and most of all a dedication find joy in life!

I watched Dedication with some friends, and I would highly recommend it to most anyone. It stars Mandy Moore, and I call it Walk to Remember with an edge, to which a friend interpreted it as, "Being nothing like it," which is partly true.

It is a love story that deals with a overly negative guy, Henry, who finds love after losing his best friend, Rudy. In the movie the point is brought up about the point of life:

Rudy Holt: You know what life is?
Henry: Life is a horrible little giggle in the midst of a forced death march towards hell.
Rudy Holt: No it isn't.
Henry: An interminable wale of grief...
Rudy Holt: No. Life is a single skip for joy.

I like that idea, and I think that idea likes me, so we are officially in like with eachother.

Should you not get the concept watch the movie, available exclusively to rent through Blockbuster.

J'attendais, Celine Dion

J'attendais = I waited.

I have always wanted to speak a foreign language fluently. In 8th Grade I chose spanish with Senor Stevenson. Little did I know that I would not learn any of the real basics, except for how to say South American countries in spanish (it's not that different), and how to say pass up your papers! Before I leave my educational life, I would like to continue my endeavor to speak a foreign language, either Spanish or French.

The Bounce, From Justin to Kelly Soundtrack

-WARNING SEMI GRAPHIC TOPIC-

Today I had a moment that seemed like it was resurrected from elementary school. Which was a combination of still feeling a little bit sick from earlier this week, and being nervous with giving my presentation. The end result was stomach rumbles and a dash to the bathroom! To the kid giving a nasty look, and using the urinal, I wanted to scream, "Yes I have an eating disorder!"

When I thought about this experience, I remembered the school kids throwing up in the hall and the Janitor, Mr. "Mountain Man" Brown putting sawdust on it... Gross I know... and Yes he was a real mountain man on the weekends. He has the black powder gun to prove it.

Party Up, Hilary Duff

Everyone loves to party, and it always seems that the party revolves around food. Sometimes its going out and later snacking on pazooki, eating 7-layer-bean dip, other times it is a southern dinner, and sometimes it's navajo Tacos. I have had my eye on something the past couple months, and today I decided that it would be a great party piece, and possibly be a reason to get together with some friends. I have never had Serendipity cocoa, but I have heard it is good.
If you have had it, is it better frozen or hot?

Breakable, Ingrid Michaelson

When I was in my tender years of nine, I broke my wrist. This all happened because of the stupid invention of a van's sliding door. My family had a Plymouth Voyager and my family was getting in to go on some errand. I was the last one to get in the van, and with my socks and soccer slides I step into the van. I remembered I forgot something so I get step my body out of the van, and the next thing I know the van door is sliding straight into my arm. I remember it being ultra painful, me screaming, while my parents discussed what to do. I then went to an emergency clinic where I got my arm in a cast.
